Who We Serve: |
We serve up to 50 elementary age and 20 teenaged children here on site during OUT OF SCHOOL TIME – afterschool, school breaks and summer. We serve an additional 150 children and youth in other agencies throughout our community weekly.
The children that attend our onsite programs are in Kindergarten through 12th grade. They attend local public schools and are brought to the center daily by the Palm Beach County School bus system. Afterschool is from 2pm through 6pm weekdays. Children are picked up by their parents. Summer camp and school break programs operate from 8am – 5:30 pm. The Center’s programming is directed toward children who come from families living below the Federal poverty line and at-risk of educational failure, juvenile delinquency, substance abuse, and teen pregnancy. Most have minimal supervision, particularly during the critical after-school hours. The parents and guardians of our students are working poor who work long and unusual hours and typically speak a language other than English at home. The majority of children entering our programs are below grade level. |
