Position: Group Volunteer
Commitment Time: One to three hours, one to five days per week
Areas of Involvement: Commitment to developing supportive relationship with students, staff, and art instructors.
Qualifications:
- Sincere desire to help a student or students achieve academic or artistic improvement while developing personally
- Ability to communicate to children openly and without judgment
- Strong listening skills
- Ability to establish relationship based on mutual respect
- Interest in the needs and concerns of children
- Practical problem-solving skills
- Ability to suggest options and alternatives
- Sensitivity to people of different educational, economic, cultural or racial backgrounds
Responsibilities:
- Acting as a role model to the students
- Attend volunteer orientation, trainings, and support sessions
- Recognize areas of need or support during classes, and assist the staff and instructors in keeping structure, order and discipline with in the class
- Assist with academics, living values, and art instruction
